How Long Does My Breastmilk Last?
Hey Mama, welcome to the journey of breastfeeding! Breastfeeding encourages bonding between you and your little one as well as provide tons of nutritional value for baby. Breastfeeding also is great for mom in many ways, like helping to shed some of the baby weight you may of gained while growing your baby for 9 months. If your reading this, chances are you have no idea or need clarity on what to do with your milk once you pump. No worries, I’m here to help! Below is the standard guidelines for storing breastmilk.
To save on wasting good milk you worked hard to pump for, it is best to store milk in bottles or milk storage bags in 1-4 ounce portions.
Remember, never refreeze your milk. If you are unsure how long milk has been sitting out you should not feed it to your baby. You should also NEVER microwave breastmilk or heat it directly on the stove. To warm milk it is best to heat water in a cup or container and place bottle in the cup after to thaw or use a bottle warmer.
